Junior League
Junior Clubs:
Banora Point Amigos, Burleigh Blades, Gold Coast Celtics, Heat Basketball Club, PBC Magpies, Pacific Pines Panthers, Somerset Spartans (Somerset College students only), TSS Suns (TSS or St Hilda students only), Varsity Vipers, Kings Basketball Club (Kings Christian College students only), Central Stars, Lindisfarne Lions (Lindisfarne College students only), and Emmanuel College (Emmanuel College Students only).
Competitions are run for both boys and girls in the following age groups:
- Under 10 – Mixed and Girls
- Under 12 – Boys and Girls
- Under 14 – Boys
- Under 16 – Boys
- Under 18 – Boys
- Under 21 (transition pathway into senior competition)
In addition, the Junior League includes:
- Junior Girls Competition (Under 14 & Under 16 age groups)
- Open Girls (OG) (Under 18, with Under 16 Division 1 eligible players only)
The purpose of the GCJBL is to provide a clear development and competition pathway for junior basketball players on the Gold Coast, supporting progression from entry-level participation through to senior competition.
Junior Registration
All junior registrations are managed through Gold Coast Basketball’s affiliated clubs.
Before registering, please ensure you have read and understood your chosen club’s registration, trial, fees and team selection requirements.
Registration links are generally available through the club’s website or social media pages, or families may contact the club directly for assistance.
All players must be registered through the Basketball Connect registration portal before attending trials, submitting a trial exemption or being placed on a club team.
Important Registration Guidelines
- Players may only register with one Gold Coast Basketball affiliated club per season.
- Players must not register with multiple clubs while deciding where they wish to play.
- Players should only register and trial with the club they intend to represent for that season.
- A player must be registered through Basketball Connect before attending a trial, submitting a trial exemption or being placed on a team.
- Once a player has attended a trial or submitted a trial exemption, they are committed to that club for the season and will not be eligible to transfer to another Gold Coast Basketball affiliated club.
- Players who have been offered or allocated a position on a club team will also not be eligible to transfer to another affiliated club for that season.
- A change of preference, wanting to play with friends, dissatisfaction with a team allocation, coach or division, or receiving an offer from another club will not be grounds for a transfer.
Any transfer request must be submitted to the Gold Coast Basketball Junior Competition Manager at cc@gccrba.com. Families must not register with another club unless written approval has been provided by Gold Coast Basketball.
Financial Obligations
If a player has previously played with another club, families must ensure the player is financial and has no outstanding fees or obligations with that club before registering for the new season.
Where outstanding fees remain, the previous club may place a restriction on the player’s participation until the outstanding amount has been resolved.
Families who are unsure of their financial status should contact their previous club before registering.
Please Note:
Submitting a registration does not automatically guarantee a place on a team. Team selections, trials and player placements are managed by the individual affiliated clubs.
When registering, please ensure you provide the correct email address, as this will be the primary method of communication from your club.

Competition Days
Our primary venues for competition games are:
- Gold Coast Sports & Leisure Centre – Hall 2
- Tallebudgera Recreational Centre
- Kings Christian College
- Somerset College
Please note that Gold Coast Basketball does not own any of these venues. All schedules and locations are subject to change based on venue availability. We ask that teams regularly check fixtures for any updates.

Junior Registration
Junior Competition Season Structure
Gold Coast Basketball runs two junior competition seasons each year:
- Summer Season – played across School Terms 4 and 1
- Winter Season – played across School Terms 2 and 3
*Gold Coast Basketball competition dates are scheduled in accordance with the Queensland public school calendar. Families attending private or independent schools should check their individual school calendar, as term dates may vary.
Each season consists of a Grading, followed by 14 regular season rounds, semi-finals and grand finals.
At the conclusion of the regular season:
- The top four teams in each division will qualify for the semi-finals.
- The winners of each semi-final will progress to the grand final.
Families are encouraged to review the full competition calendar and key dates before registering, particularly where school holidays, public holidays or other commitments may affect availability.
Finals Eligibility
To be eligible to participate in finals, players must have played in at least 50% of their team’s regular season games.
Grading games do not count towards finals eligibility.
