U12 Queensland State Championships

Gold Coast Basketball’s most promising young athletes hit the court this past week at the U12 Queensland State Championships, proudly wearing our iconic blue and white and representing our association with heart and hustle.

Day 1 kicked off with a bang—our teams collectively won an incredible 11 out of 14 games, setting the tone for a competitive and spirited campaign.

Day 2 brought tougher matchups, testing our teams’ resilience and grit. They rose to the challenge, showing determination and teamwork in every game.

Day 3 featured a thrilling Coast clash as our Tides and Combers met in the Division 5 Quarter Finals. By the end of the day, the Boys Breakers, Tides, and Girls Waves had all reached the semi-finals. With wins for the Tides and Waves, we headed into Day 4 chasing gold.

Day 4 was spectacular:

  • 🥇 Tides claimed 1st place in Division 5, winning their Grand Final convincingly.
  • 🥈 Girls Waves battled through a nail-biting Division 3 Grand Final. After trailing by 10 at halftime, they tied the game at the buzzer and pushed into overtime. Though they fell just short, they walked away with a well-earned Silver medal.
  • 🥉 Boys Breakers—our third-seeded team—were one of the tournament’s standout stories. After grading up to Division 2 and narrowly missing the SQJBC semi-finals, they proved their determination at the Championships, securing a Bronze medal with smart, selfless basketball.
