Gold Coast Basketball and TAFE Queensland Team Up for Unbeatable Partnership

TAFE Queensland and the Gold Coast Basketball have teamed up to launch the Gold Coast Rollers TAFE at School Program. Geared towards high school players, this initiative is designed to provide a quality education with students completing a Certificate II and III in Sport Coaching alongside their secondary school studies. This program presents a remarkable opportunity for year 10 and 11 basketball athletes to sharpen their skills on the court while pursuing a comprehensive education, fostering both athletic growth and creating a pathway towards a career in the sports industry.

Students in the Gold Coast Rollers TAFE at School Program will benefit from the guidance of a specialised TAFE Queensland educator, enabling them to achieve a well-rounded understanding of the sports industry both on and off the court. The comprehensive curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including essential coaching techniques, sport conditioning, player development strategies, and sports management skills. With the 2032 Olympics approaching, the integration of practical basketball training and theoretical expertise will prepare students for exciting opportunities in sporting industry.

A key feature of the program is the convenience of attending sessions one day a week at Carrara Indoor Sports Stadium throughout the two-year duration. This arrangement replaces a regular school day, offering students a fully immersive experience that is seamlessly integrated into their familiar learning structure. Additionally, students will engage in regular strength and conditioning sessions, basketball-specific training, and athlete development workshops, ensuring a holistic approach to their overall development. Successful completion of the Gold Coast Rollers TAFE at School Program, students can contribute up to 8 Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) credits, ensuring a meaningful impact on their academic journey. Additionally, for those pursuing higher education post school, the program can contribute to their Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).
